Total income for this event was ¤ 3620,59, from which ¤ 2039,80
had to be taken of (for plane fares, train fares, etc.), leaving us with
¤ 1580,79. The amount of ¤ 1580,79 has been transferred to the

What is Earthdance?
Earthdance is an annual dance benefit event held in hundreds of cities on
the same night all over the world. Each party is organised by a local party
promoter and all profits are donated to a chosen charity. At a set time
in the night (1 am) a special link up track will be played simultaneously
at all Earthdance parties to symbolise a global connection of people wishng
for peace worldwide. This track is appropriately called "A prayer for
Peace"!
In Groningen, BooM! Records is now organising their third event (this time
in Simplon), and the profits will be donated to the Child Welfare Scheme,
an organisation helping improve living standards in poor areas of Nepal.
All djs, artists and crew have donated their sets and services for free.

Earthdance Groningen 12 October 2002 22.00 - 08.00 Simplon, Boterdiep, Groningen.
Simplon has been one of the most popular podiums of Groningen
for many years now. Recently they closed for over a year for a major refurbishment
and updates. The results were amazing: an ultra-modern 600 capacity venue
with 2 seperate party halls, a cafe and the "Silicon Lounge",
a high-tech space with a computer network in it.
During Earthdance we will be playing full on psy trance in the mainroom,
tribal and chill trance in the upstairs room and information, DVD's, presentations
and games in the Silicon Lounge. A live VJ (Barth from Closed Eye Visions)
will be mixing images which will be projected on 3 screens - 2 in the main
room and 1 in the chill.
Earlier this year BooM! Records hosted an evening in Simplon with great
success - as many people attended this party as on the night of the grand
reopening.

Dick Trevor (Green Nuns / Bisto Boyz, UK)
Dick Trevor was one of the pioneers of trance - back in the
early 90's he was in the world famous "Green Nuns of the Revolution"
who rocked the dancefloor with hits on the major labels such as TIP Records
and Flying Rhino Records. More recently he has been producing in collaboration
with other artists both on and off the psy trance scene and is still releasing
regularly. We look forward to his dj set with much anticipation!
John Phantasm (Phantasm Records, UK) http://www.phantasm-uk.demon.co.uk/
John Phantasm has been running his trance label for over
10 years now, since the very birth of psy trance..... perhaps even before!
Their first compilation was subtitled "Hard Trance / Psychedelic Techno"
as the words 'Goa' and 'Psy' didn't exist back then. Since then they have
released countless cds on both Phantasm and Psychic Deli (a sub-label).
John regularly travels the globe to play - from America to Japan, Mexico
to Taiwan and back again. His sets are hard, danceable and above all fun!

Junya (Tipworld /Phantasm Records, UK)
Junya is the high energy son of John Phantasm and a legend
in his own right. He played his first international gig when he was just
12 years old in a party in Japan and has been mixing ever since. He has
played in more countries than we have room to list here, and always to a
packed dancefloor. His sets have a unique, infectious energy that makes
you just want to dance. He is now producing tracks himself also and has
released his own mixed cd and tracks on Phantasm and TIP World (he is also
an official TIP World dj).

Matt BooM! should need no introduction in Holland: he has
been djing here since 1992 and running BooM! Records with partner Remko
since 1996, with 15 full length releases to date making Hollands number
1 trance label. He plays regularly all over the world - this year alone
has seen him playing in Brazil, Ibiza, Hungary, Czech Republic, Switzerland,
Canada to mention just a few. In November he is going to Australia and Japan
for a 2 month tour, catch him while you can!

Mindfield (Phantasm Records, UK)
As mentioned above, Mindfield is one of the longest running
trnce acts of the UK. They have released tracks on dozens of compilations
and twelve inches, and celebrated their 10 year existence this year by releasing
a double album compiling all of their hard to find trax. At the World Electronic
Music Conference in Canada earlier this year they really got the dancefloor
bouncing, we expect nothing less at Earthdance!
Bisto Boyz (Phantasm Records, UK)
Dick Trevors latest collaboration, also released on Phantasm.
A relatively new live act, but pure quality of course. Their hits to date
have been the legendary "Schnarsty" and "Rock'n'Rohipnol"
with several new releases ready for release later this year. Full on psy
trance, not for the fainthearted!
Chillout:
Djs:
Sunny & Steely Sunny and Steely are the Groningen experts
on dub and ambient, blissfull music for you to chill out to. Both are active
members of dub bands and Steely has dj-ed at the biggest outdoor party in
Holland, "Dance Valley".
Colin (OOOD / Unconscious Collective, UK)
Colin is another veteran trancer: you probably know him best
from his work under the name OOOD (Out Of Our Depth) who released prolifically
during the 90's on Flying Rhino and other labels.. As with good wine, he
has mellowed with the years and is now producing a more chilled style of
downtempo music. He will be playing many of his new unreleased tracks during
a special guest dj set.

Michael Martin is another top chill merchant, flying over
from the UK to soothe and amuse. His set will be completely live, a mixture
of downbeat electronic sounds and live didgeridu playing. Check out his

Sundog (Phantasm Records, UK)
Sundog is John Phantasms alter-ego chill project, with many
releases on his own label and others, including the "Surrender to the
Vibe " series much loved by chill djs the world over.
Deco:
Placebo Effects (D)
Placebo Effects are a capable deco team from Germany who will
be treating us to eye-candy on both dancefloors - from beautiful paintings
to hanging 3d objects, this is their 3rd time in Groningen. Many will remember
them from their huge success at the Goa Gaia party here in Groningen 2 years

Vj:
Barth (Closed Eye Visions)
Resident at BooM! parties, Barth is a digital genius who will
be mixing his own digital creations with footage from DVD and other sources
using a realtime video editing desk and effects. His projections will be
shown on 3 screens, 2 on the main dancefloor and 1 in the chill.
